Dersingham VA Primary and Nursery School

Special Presentation at Sandringham House

One of our students was presented with the King's Prize for Proficiency in Religious instruction on Sunday 2nd February 2025

Ten year old Tommy Bunting received a bible that has a special bookplate in the front signed by the King.

Our school has recently updated our vision and values, encouraging pupils to think about the meaning.  Year 6 took on a special challenge to demonstrate their proficiency in religious instruction by expressing their understanding of Christianity through art, with the title of 'What God Means to You' They each created a piece of art that reflected their beliefs and connected to one of the school's values, such as Kindness, respect, perseverance.  After completing their artwork, they wrote a poem about their chosen value, showing how they could demonstrate it in their daily life.  This activity helped them reflect on their faith and the importance of living out the school's values every day.

Tommy received the price because beyond the work itself, he has truly personified these values at school.  He has risen to the challenges with determination, persevering even when things were difficult.  Through his actions, he has shown kindness and generosity,  willing to support others despite facing his own struggles.  his dedication and positive attitude make him a role model and demonstrates how our school's values can be lived out everyday.

It is with great pride that we celebrated Tommy's achievement when Tommy and his family together with Mrs Warren attended Sandringham House.

Receiving the bible from His Majesty the King was not only testament to Tommy's hard work, dedication and faith, but also a reflection of the values of excellence, service and compassion that we strive to nurture in our students.

We are hoping that this experience inspires Tommy to continue walking in faith and sharing the light of wisdom with others.
